February 2020
Still in the early phases of what would eventually become the COVID -19 pandemic, I had wanted to still build on my already growing portfolio of fashion-forward portrait photography despite how the world had constantly begun to change. Jess is a professional fashion model with a ton of experience, and it was great to meet up with her fiance providing plenty of great assistance and tips for the shoot.
Usually, for all of my sessions, I’ll have a general lookbook assembled based on the aesthetic I’m inspired by sent to the person I’m working with ahead of time, with outfits generally matching what would be in the final product. While I never expect a shoot to be 1:1, Jess definitely nailed down the look I wanted to go for, for a commercial conscious vision that could be seen perhaps in a magazine or retail website. With this in mind, Jess’s experience definitely shines through as she understood the directional intentions with where she’s looking, and even when she’s looking down the barrel of the lens, she has a commanding authority that is quite confident!
