A sudden mysteriousness hides within what cannot be seen. For photography, the use of silhouettes is almost as if there is a collaborative experience with both the photographer and their audience. Below are some photos that I've taken in the past year or so, were I play around with this idea.
To me, it is an allowance for the audience to decipher and interpret the story behind the picture. It's more flexible than having all the answers visually at the ready. By not seeing the full details of the subject, one is left only with the pose, the lighting, and, in some cases, the use of color surrounding the subject. All of which are clues that can help guide what I'm trying to go for, but at the same time, I leave it up to anyone to really make out a narrative that they're able to derive from it.
