In all of the accomplishments we have in life, our decisions must always try to remain true to who we are and we’re willing to become. Though this is not always the case, as things tend to pull us in unexpected directions, I’d like to hold on to a bit of hope, that the things we enjoy is what grounds us for the better.
For Kenny, this definitely is the case in the way he carries himself. He’s personable, laid back, and very genuine. It’s hard to find authentic people like him, but he’s just a positive person through and through.
Music is a huge component for him and as he played, during the shoot, it almost feels like this was just another extension of him. I wanted to capture this essence, that he’s just a warm personality, and that his music is like another limb, and that it’s an organic part of who he is. With graduation shoots, I always make the effort to put my subject’s personality at center stage, and with no difficulty at all, Kenny just, without hesitation, knows what to do and play, literally, to the camera.
